The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has started her visit to Tirana within the framework of the Berlin Process Summit.
Immediately after arriving in Tirana, Von der Leyen addressed the Presidency for a meeting with the head of state, Bajram Begaj.
In a post on platform X, Von der Leyen informs that the subject of the discussion with President Begaj was the expansion of the European Union with the countries of the Western Balkans.
According to the head of the EC, here we are not dealing with a question of whether it should be done, but only with a question of when the countries of the Western Balkans will join.
"Starting my visit to Albania with a good meeting with Bajram Begaj. Enlargement is at the top of our priorities and Albania is on the right track. We want our partners and neighbors to come together and make our Union complete. So it's not a matter of if, but when."
After stopping at Begaj's office, Von der Leyen went to the premises of the "House of Europe" to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
