"Albanians want to become like Kastrati and Mane", Fevziu: Albania
Fevziu: Albania deserved Rama, Berisha and Meta

Journalist Blendi Fevziu says that the three main politicians who have led Albania in 30 years, Sali Berisha, Ilir Meta Meta and Edi Rama, have not harmed the country, but Albania deserved them.

Invited to the show "Te Paespozuarit", Fevziu also showed a poll conducted by the television station where he works, which showed that Albanians call corruption negative, but not when they give and take bribes themselves.

Excerpts from the conversation at TPZ:

Ylli Rakipi : Albania is run by three people, Berisha, Meta and Rama. These will take the chair with them when they leave this world. What do you think, have they done good or bad for the country?

Blendi Fevziu: I don't believe that they did harm to the country, they did what the country deserved. There are people who say, the politicians took this country by the neck... 4 years ago, we did a confidential survey with a big company, with focus groups. When you ask people whether the word corruption is good or bad, most say bad. When you asked them, do you give money or will you receive money when you do a service, 80% said yes. So, everyone sees the other's corruption, not their own. We asked them if the word oligarch is bad or good. 80% said bad. When you put a list of 18 people, and asked them which of them you would like to be, most of them said Kastrati or Samiri. The dream of these people is to get rich, as in any country in the world. Politicians are a product of this society. So are businessmen, journalists, policemen, etc.

Ylli Rakipi: How was the Albanian business Fevzi born? Besides the fact that it is interesting, some of them are uneducated people.

Blendi Fevziu: I also wanted to write a book about this. Albania has had very big problems. Until 1920, it was a typical feudal society, with peasants who owned land and kept farmers. In 1923-24, the merchant class began to be created, which lasted until 1945. If this class had been left, Albania would have built a real class of businessmen. Communism came, beheaded them, put them in prisons and expropriated them. The year 1990 saw the start of a new class of businessmen. Albania, unlike the rest of Eastern Europe, built its business class on trade and not on the privatization of assets.

In Russia, for example, they took large assets of the Soviet Union, oil, things. In Albania, they were made by buying and selling. Privatizations came after 97'. In the East, they had factories that were transformed, they had other opportunities.

Among the first businessmen who entered Albania, two categories were entered, some more sophisticated, or who became sophisticated along the way, and some not at all cultured and formed, but courageous. They would fill a bag with dollars, fly to China, buy whatever they had, bring them back.
