The Assembly will meet today in an extraordinary session to vote on the changes in the government.
Socialists are expected to approve the dismissal of Arben Ahmetaj as deputy prime minister and the appointment of Belinda Balluku in his place.
Also, the appointment of the Minister of State, Majlinda Dhuka, who will be Albania's chief negotiator in the EU membership process, will also be approved at the session. The session will be held at 17:00.
Prime Minister Edi Rama made changes in the government, as soon as the new president of the country, Bajram Begaj, took office. These were Begaj's first signatures as head of state.
On the other hand, the Democratic party asked that the changes in the government not pass without debate in the Assembly. The head of the democrats' parliamentary group, Enkelejkd Alibeaj, submitted the request to the Assembly to hold a debate, but the socialists overthrew it.
