Prime Minister Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama delivered his victory speech in the May 11 parliamentary elections, three days after the elections, in a speech at Skanderbeg Square.

Rama arrived there accompanied by his family, his wife Linda Rama and his children, Zaho, Gregori and Rea.

The leader of the Socialist Party, who managed to secure 83 mandates, thanked the Albanians who voted for him, both inside and outside the country, and who, as he said, "chose the stars, and not the darkness of the pit."

Excerpt from Rama's speech:

Here we are again, from the day we set out to collect what we collected with much work and effort for four years in a row in the hearts and minds of Albanians. For 30 days, Albanians listened, evaluated, watched and on May 11th they decided to entrust us, the Socialist Party, with a fourth mandate. And they entrusted us with more than ever before, with a greater responsibility than ever before.

We instilled more trust in Albania, therefore we gathered more trust from Albanians. We gathered the votes of a referendum support for an Albania that we will join the European Union. Albanians chose between an increasingly better Albania, and a slandered Albania. Between the light and stars of Europe and the darkness of the pit, Albania chose the stars. Thank you Albania. A special thank you to the Albanians of Greece, Italy, and wherever they may be. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart, a hug to everyone from Gjergj Kastrioti Square. Although the counting continues, it is clear that the majority outside Albania thinks the same as the majority inside Albania, about Albania 2030. This means a lot to me, a lot to everyone.

I don't know how to thank you all enough. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
