Meta candidate for the Municipality of Tirana? Veliaj: I can hardly wait for it,
Erion Veliaj and Ilir Meta

Mayor Erion Veliaj has spoken for the first time about a possible candidacy of Ilir Meta for mayor of Tirana in the 2023 elections.

The mayor of Tirana has stated that he does not want Meta to run, but if this happens he can not wait to have a confrontation with him.

"He does not keep it, but if he keeps it, it would be a welcome battle, I can hardly wait for it ," Veliaj told Report Tv.

Regarding the process of electing the new president, Veliaj stressed that the SP has no interest in having a socialist president, therefore it has excluded all its deputies from the race. Regarding the criteria, Veliaj says that it is enough to be a profession, academic figure, or a figure who has not been included in the SP for the last five years

"The process has been open to define some criteria. PS even though it has the votes, the socialists feel that the time has come for a socialist, however it is not the goal here to have every institution. It will not be a deputy of the Socialist Party, or the active policy of the Socialist Party, but if someone comes with different convictions, the academy, the Armed Forces, as a profession, this would be good for the municipality. I would like a president who does not deal with the wells of Tirana. A president who does not care what side the lana flows on, who does not care about the playgrounds. "The municipality is not connected with the presidency, except for some formal affairs, we had some presidents who dealt with the affairs of the city," Veliaj declared.
