Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis hosted our Prime Minister Edi Rama at the Maximos Palace today , as part of the Delphi Summit, where, among other things, the two prime ministers are expected to discuss "old issues" between Albania and Greece.
Greek media outlet Protothema has published a moment from Edi Rama's reception in Athens and says he appeared " quite embarrassed " because of his attire, telling Mitsotakis that he did not expect such an " official " reception at the Maximos Palace.
"It is an honor for me to be here, and I apologize for not dressing as formally as you, because I did not expect such a reception. So I hope that the Greek media does not perceive it otherwise, except as a lack of good information from my protocol," said Edi Rama.
On the other hand, the Greek prime minister, knowing Edi Rama's nature and his style of dressing, replied that it was not a problem, as Kyriakos Mitsotakis himself liked the way his counterpart dressed, telling him that he was always "creative".
Kyriakos Mitsotakis : It is always a pleasure to welcome you to Athens, dear Edi, on the occasion of your participation in the Delphi Economic Forum. It is always good to be given the opportunity to appreciate the important progress we have made in our bilateral relations and our continued support for the difficult path you have followed towards the European Union.
However, I believe that we still have an important opportunity to resolve the outstanding issues concerning our bilateral relations and to consolidate the true friendship between our two peoples. Therefore, it is a great opportunity to welcome you back to Athens, and I know that you really enjoy coming here .
Edi Rama : Thank you very much. And, to tell you the truth, I feel relieved that what should have been left in the past is left in the past, because this gives me a greater opportunity to come more often to your beautiful country, which I adore.
In the meantime, I want to sincerely thank you for your support. We appreciate it very much. And, yes, we are very eager to continue and complete what we agreed together, a bold strategic partnership document where all issues are addressed and there are no more unresolved issues between us, as we want to join the European Union and make this region much more important at this level as well.
Again, thank you very much, Mr. Prime Minister. It is an honor to be here and I apologize for not being dressed as formally as you, because I did not expect such a reception. So I hope that the Greek media will not perceive it otherwise, except as a lack of good information from my protocol.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis: We recognize that you are always very inventive in the way you dress and we like that./ Protothema
