Edi Rama

During the Atlantic Council, Prime Minister Edi Rama was asked by journalist Ilva Tare about Italy's agreement on immigrants. According to the agreement, 3000 thousand immigrants will come to Albania every month in a reception center financed by Italy.

The journalist asked Rama how this agreement will be treated in the international and European legal framework that protects the right to asylum and what answer he has for its critics.

Edi Rama : To correct a little, to say things as they should be, it is a center and there is another reception terminal at the border where these people will be registered first when they enter. Secondly, 36k is a wishful imagined number based on the idea that this process will be so anti-Italian and will work like a Swiss watch which means that every month 3000 will be processed leaving you place for 3000 others and that during the year will go to 36 thousand. Will that happen? I am not sure.

However, even if this is the case, the point is that this migrant reception center will only have 3,000 places, it is a center for only 3,000 people. It will be built 100% based on the criteria that the European Union has drawn up for how these centers should be, how they should function at the same time. The agreement is 100% within the framework of EU law and international law criteria for this issue.

The reason why all this noise happened is one and only, Albania is not a member of the EU, that's why it has been considered, it has been called with all the most inappropriate names from Guantanamo, from violation of international rights and everything else. If this deal had been made between Italy and another EU country, no one would have wasted a minute dealing with it, and forget that it took up so much time and space on people's screens to was talked about, but I think this is sad because it shows a bias, nothing more against our country and the countries that are not members of the EU, while the countries that are members of the EU are reluctant to show such solidarity, we do not we are. I just look at all these comments and all the criticism with a kind of regret, but it's not like it matters.
