A day earlier, the Democratic Party held elections for the Presidency.

Sali Berisha decided to carry out a fundamental restructuring in the Democratic Party Presidency, not re-nominating more than half of the members elected over the last four years.

Of the 17 previously elected members, Berisha decided not to re-run more than half, giving a new direction to the leadership structure, with new and not politically exhausted figures.

One of them was the mayor of Kavaja, Fisnik Qosja.

He has emerged as one of the most voted candidates for the Presidency.

Qosja received a full 158 votes.

The other two candidates who received the most votes, along with Qosjan, were Grigels Muçollari and Ervin Minallori.

Fisnik Qosja is seen as one of the politicians of the future in the DP, after he managed to challenge the SP and take the Municipality of Kavaja, at the peak of the power and authority of the Socialists, who in the last elections won almost all the municipalities in the country.
