The new map of the EU according to exit polls

Based on the first exit polls, the new map of Europe that could be drawn by these elections has started to take shape. Awaiting the final results, polls conducted in the main European countries show the right-wing Conservatives as the winners, followed by the right-wing extremists.

Germany

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his party, the SPD, have been thoroughly defeated according to the first exit polls in Germany with the AfD extremists becoming the second force causing a political earthquake. The CDU/CSU People's Party (a party belonging to the EPP) is the main party with 30%. The right-wing extremists of the AfD with 16% surpass the socialists of the SPD with 14%, emerging for the first time as the second force in the country. According to the exit polls, the next turn is as follows: Greens 12.5%, BSW 6%, FDP 5%, Sinistra (Linke) 3%, Volta 3%.

The head of the AfD, Tino Chrupalla, has expressed his joy for reaching these elections, even though the final results are expected to come out in the early hours of the morning.

"The game is over and we have a super result, a record result. We have almost 50% of young voters in Europe," he said. Meanwhile, Kevin Kühnert, general secretary of Prime Minister Olaf Scholz's Social Democrats expressed his despair, saying: "This is a heavy loss for us today."

Greece

Polls in Albania's southern neighbor put the "New Democracy" conservatives in the lead, for which the two minorities, Fredi Beleri and Pirro Dhima, are competing.

The political force led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, part of the EPP, leads according to exit polls with 28-32% of the vote. It is followed by SYRIZA of the left group in the European Parliament between 15.2 and 18.2%. The socialist party PASOK will most likely be in third place, at the threshold between 13.9 and 10.9%, followed by the communists KKE between 10.3 and 7.9% and the far-right party Ellinikilisi (Greek Solution) which could get up to 7.6 % of votes.

Austria

The first exit polls, published by the media at the close of the polls, show that the far-right party FPÖ is in the lead with 27% of the vote in Austria. The Conservative People's Party is in second place with 23.5%, and the Social Democrats in third place with 23%. For the FPÖ this is a historic result, as the party is the main political formation in the country for the first time. Five years ago it stopped at the 17% threshold. Support for the far-right party had collapsed after the "Ibizagate" scandal engulfed it in 2019, when its former leader was caught red-handed promising government contracts to a woman posing as the granddaughter of a Russian oligarch. .

Slovakia

Bullgaria

With 26.2% of the vote, the populist conservative ruling coalition is believed to have won the majority of seats in Bulgaria, securing 6 out of 17 seats. Far behind, in second place, is the centrist coalition of parties "We continue the change", Volt Bulgaria and Democratic Bulgaria, with 15.7%. The far-right Rilindja party comes in third place. This is an important victory for Revival, as they received only 1% of the vote in 2019 and did not secure any seats in the European Parliament.
