Today, the decision to imprison DP deputy Ervin Salianji, who yesterday was sentenced to 1 year in prison by a final decision, is expected to be executed. The panel of the Court of Appeal, composed of Elona Toro, Genti Shala and Iliba Bezati, upheld the decision of the Tirana Court of December 18, 2019, which declared Salianj guilty of 'false report' related to the audio-taping of the Babale file and had sentenced him to 1 year in prison.
Salianji himself considered the decision as political and at the same time decoration in his career. The decision that removes not only his freedom, but also the mandate of the deputy, Salianji said that he would carry out the sentence and that he would not stop him from making opposition even in the cell.
The decision has provoked many reactions from the opposition. The Democratic Party yesterday evening gathered the presidency for the continuation of the opposition action after the conviction of Salianj.
Chief Democrat Sali Berisha asked for the start of a wave of protests throughout the country, where he asked for the mobilization of the membership in every city and square of the country.
The closed-door meeting clarified the ideas of the opposition action. Structures will be on the ground in the coming days to organize the party's base for a national protest on October 6.
