Socialist Party MP, Briseida Çakërri, stated that there is no reason for Prime Minister Edi Rama or the government to resign, arguing that the majority is continuing to implement its main electoral promise, Albania's membership in the European Union.
Çakërri told A2 that the prime minister has expressed willingness to dialogue with representatives of the protesters and discuss their demands.
"There is no reason for the SP and Edi Rama to resign, when the main promise in the campaign was precisely EU membership. By the end of 2027, Albania will close the negotiations. Today we are in chapter 27, which is related to the environment, which is one of the main reasons why this protest started."
"Integration was the main promise, where 92 percent of Albanians want integration, says the EU barometer. This is the spirit of 92 percent of Albanians. The Prime Minister has come out from the first days and has extended his hand, saying, bring your representative with the demands you have and let's discuss them, let's talk about what we can do better," said Çakërri.
