Chris LaCivita attacks New York Times journalist: I'm not lobbying for
Chris LaCivita's

The engagement of President Trump's campaign co-manager, Chris LaCivita, in Albania has sparked controversy in the US.

New York Times journalist Kenneth P. Vogel, in a post on the social network X, accuses LaCivita of not being registered to lobby for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who has been declared non grata by the US for corruption.

LaCivita then countered the journalist, saying that he did not need to register, as he was not lobbying for Berisha, but rather was a consultant for the Democratic Party's campaign for the May 11 parliamentary elections. He reminded the NYT journalist that he was doing the same work as hundreds of Democratic consultants, but that the journalist, according to him, would never mention.

Meanwhile, in an earlier communication with the New York Times, LaCivita characterized his work as a continuation of what he did to help President Trump win.

"I'm exporting the ideas of the MAGA campaign there, so let's make Albania Great Again! It's in natural alignment with our ideas on how to defeat a socialist in power in Albania who is a pawn and puppet of the Soros family."

LaCivita argues that the former Biden administration's declaration of Mr. Berisha as persona non grata was politically motivated.

He believes that Berisha's experience is similar to that of Mr. Trump. LaCivita believes that behind the sanctions and unfounded claims against Berisha is the megadonor of the American left, George Soros.

LaCivita, who appeared with Berisha this month at a press conference in Albania, said he would not address the Trump administration on behalf of Mr. Berisha or his party.

"I don't lobby. I campaign, and that's what I'm doing, very directly."

LaCivita has not confirmed to the American newspaper whether other consultants are involved in the electoral campaign in Albania.
