Celibashi reveals when the final election results will be released

The head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, revealed tonight that by Tuesday we will have the final results of the votes, for parties and candidates.

"The counting has begun in the districts of Korça, Gjirokastra and Kukës. On the CEC's website, you can find real-time information about the country and about voting from abroad."

"I believe that by Tuesday we will have the result, both for the parties and for the candidates. We succeeded in 2021 and I think we will succeed this time too."

Celibashi described the voting in the diaspora as successful, adding that he is confident that this year there will be fewer invalid votes than in previous elections. 

"Voting from abroad has been a success. We are evaluating it. As a whole, the process has been successful. We are evaluating each claim. Let's see how much these will hold up with the evidence that the parties have. We have had continuous communications about all the issues, we are in the process. There are a few things to address differently, regarding voting from abroad. There is a lot of work to do, but I don't think tonight is the night for that."

"We are confident that in these elections we will have fewer invalid votes than in 2021. From experience, I can say that the 2003 elections were the most difficult. Today can be considered one of the calmest days in terms of elections in Albania ," Celibashi declared.

Meanwhile, Celibashi has stated that for the moment, the diaspora votes for the Korça region are blocked, as the DP representatives refuse to start counting because they are demanding the separation of votes from Greece.

He said they will wait a little longer to unblock the process.

"It seems that the messages we conveyed at the end of the voting process did not resonate very well with everyone. We are assessing this situation. We have communicated with the counting groups to resolve this situation because it is within their competence."

If they do not make a decision, this decision will be made by the external vote administration commission. For the Korça region, we have a blocked situation, we will make a decision regarding this situation soon. It is not good that political representatives are involved in the counting process. Interventions in the process are unacceptable”, said Celibashi.
