Bujar Nishani is declared Honorary Chairman of the National Council of PD
The late former president, Bujar Nishani, who lost his life on May 28, has been declared Honorary Chairman of the National Council of the Democratic Party.
The proposal came from Edi Paloka, while it was approved by the members of the Democratic Party.
Bujar Nishani served as President of Albania for one term, from 2012 to 2017.
He was a senior Democratic Party official, having served as defense minister, justice minister and interior minister before being elected president.
The former president of Albania, Bujar Nishani, passed away on Saturday in Germany, where he was being treated due to his aggravated health condition. Former President Nishani has long suffered from an autoimmune disease and his condition was aggravated by the consequences of COVID-19.
