Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha says that the head of the Albanian government, Edi Rama, was "caught in the act" by American justice.
From the window of the apartment where he is under house arrest for corruption and abuse of office, Berisha addressed several dozen supporters gathered on the street below the palace.
Berisha called on them to "arrest Edi Rama", not waiting for the arrest warrant from the American FBI. The former prime minister refers to the case of former FBI agent Charles McGonigal.
Part of Berisha's statement:
Dear friends, today all power is concentrated in one hand, in the hand of the biggest villain after Enver Hoxha that the Albanians have had in charge.
It is concentrated in one hand of the biggest thief in the history of the Albanian state.
It is concentrated in one hand of a national and international criminal, whose name is Edi Rama.
Every minute, every hour and day that passes becomes heavier the shame on the Albanians who tolerate an incriminated prime minister, a prime minister who has committed heinous crimes against his country and against the leader of NATO, the great country of freedom, the USA .
This, my friends, is flagrant. American justice caught Edi Rama red-handed.
Edi Rama should be arrested, arrested by you, arrested by you and only by you.
Albanians should arrest Edi Rama. Do not wait for arrest warrants from the FBI or anyone else.
Albanians on foot to arrest a criminal who recruits, who bribes the chief spy of the partner country to destroy the Albanian opposition.
Albanians must arrest this criminal himself who pays drug money, crime money, to destroy the Albanian opposition.
My friends, there is no greater shame than for this criminal to enter the offices of the state.
Time does not wait, flagrante calls every Albanian to stand up and do justice against him.
When justice has ended in his clutches and does not exist, it is up to the Albanians, it is up to the people to take justice into their hands.
Edi Rama is a Čubrilovic, a Pashiq, he is a fierce enemy of our being.
What should he do more towards Albania and Albanians and everyone he has done?
Dear friends, the flagrance of Edi Rama awaits us, the flagrance of Edi Rama does not wait.
So all standing against this enemy, against this thief, against this thief!
