Berisha: EP report blackens government, half of Albanian children at risk of
Sali Berisha

Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha spoke at a media conference this Friday, May 8, where he spoke about the European Parliament's report on Albania's progress in the integration process.

During his speech, referring to the report, Berisha said that it states that half of Albanian children are at risk of poverty. But according to him, the government is not taking any measures.

"The report is an extraordinary document, which states with great pain that half of Albanian children are at risk of poverty and that the government has no measures for excluded children, for children in misery. It denounces the indifference in social policies towards young people, the low funding in education.

The lack of a clear social housing policy for young people, for students, for their employment is denounced. The immediate revocation of the amendments to the infamous strategic investment law is demanded. A complete register of these investments is demanded.

"Discrimination against minorities in employment and for other purposes is strongly condemned. Edi Rama's brutal interventions in the justice system, in the prosecution system are condemned with the greatest force. In every line of his where there are violations and disagreements, there are three famous names, Edi Rama, Lubi Balluku, Niko Peleshi," said Berisha, adding that "the lakrori has run out of noodles."

The democratic leader presented the points in the report one by one, which according to him confirm and support the opposition's ongoing denunciations.

Focusing on the point about child poverty, he considered this to be one of the "darkest news coming from Brussels."

According to him, there are 8 resolutions from the fall of 2024 to today that denounce the dramatic situation in Albania.

The democratic leader focused on another point in the report, expressing his conviction that it confirms that the May 11 elections of last year were an "electoral farce".

According to Berisha, the EP report sanctions “the exclusion of the opposition from the integration process, the exclusion of citizens from the integration process” and “warns that parliament should be the central forum of this process.” The opposition leader states that this is a document of the entire political spectrum.

After the entire presentation, Berisha invited all Albanian citizens to join the protest that is expected to start this afternoon at 7:00 PM, which he calls "the most powerful peaceful uprising the country has ever known," to overthrow the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

"The wave of opposition protests never stops until the goal is achieved," he emphatically replied to reporters.
