DP MP Gjin Gjoni emphasized that the race for mayor within the blue headquarters has no connection to the protest called tomorrow in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
Gjoni emphasized that Berisha is not at risk as leader of the Democrats, as he has experience and connections with the electorate.
Among other things, Gjoni pointed out that the candidates who have challenged Berisha do not meet the criteria, stating that " you cannot come from the street " to become the leader of a 35-year-old party.
" The protests have nothing to do with the elections in the DP. Because even I today, and any leader of the DP who may run in the elections in relation to Berisha, can be sure that they will not be successful, because of the political experience, because of the connection he has with the electorate, because of the way he is leading the party, and Mr. Berisha's existence as leader of the DP is not at risk."
There are some rules there, because there is a statute and the statute has some rules defined. You can't come from the street and become the leader of a party that has been around for 35 years, just because you have the desire and the will to run. You have to have some criteria that are defined in the party statute.
"In this specific case, I don't think that the candidates who have entered the race, each of them, have that compatibility. I'm not running because I'm not part of this decision-making. Because if I run against Berisha and get 10 percent, what is the impact that I give in relation to my supporters ," Gjoni told A2.
