The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi , gave a statement to the media from the Presidency of the Assembly, where he focused on Albania's European integration process.
According to Bardhi, the country is starting a new phase of negotiations with the European Union, but with more conditions and less trust from Brussels.
He noted that there are a total of 34 EU conditions related to the fight against corruption, patronage, political immunity and money laundering.
During his speech, Bardhi emphasized that the European Union has set clear criteria regarding democratic standards in the country.
"The EU sets conditions for free elections, functional investigative commissions and fair competition," said the head of the DP group.
To meet these criteria, Bardhi announced that the Democratic Party has prepared the first package with three legal initiatives:
-Repeal of the law on strategic investments.
-Decriminalization of defamation against journalists.
-Money laundering as a separate article in the Criminal Code.
"Without closing the Edi Rama chapter, negotiations with the EU will not be closed," Bardhi said in his statement.
