The head of the Democratic Union for Integration party, Ali Ahmeti, for the meeting that was organized the day before between the Albanian political parties and Prime Minister Edi Rama. The focus of this meeting, Ahmeti says, was the membership of Albania and North Macedonia in the EU.

In an interview for Report TV, the head of DUI said that coordination between the two countries on strategic issues will shorten the path to the union.

"Beneficial, strategic interest for both our countries. This was the substance of last night's meeting, how to do this journey together, to be coordinated but without ethnic colors, because in the Republic of North Macedonia this visit can be considered paternalistic, but it has nothing to do with secret meetings with strategy and conspiracy theories. We are very transparent. We are in favor of always being together at strategic points for the common Euro-Atlantic path. This path is in the advancement of the two processes, but we also give much more serious attention to the international placement centers when we make the journey together and coordinate on strategic issues, they will be invested in the future, not only with Albania, but also with Kosovo, we have had permanent consultations with Greece and Bulgaria, we also want Serbia and Montenegro to be on this path,Aliahmet said.

He also responded to the Besa Movement, which chose to boycott the meeting with Rama, saying that it only serves the interests of DUI. Aliahmeti said that this meeting was in the interests of all Macedonian citizens and other communities there, while he also criticized the absence of the Besa Movement, saying that it did nothing but damage its image.

"This meeting does not serve DUI, it serves all Macedonian citizens, neither Macedonians nor other communities lose from this meeting, much less a small opposition party called Besa. I don't know the real reasons, but everyone takes the step they think is the right step. In this situation, I think they did not take the step well. Their non-participation does not lose it, does not reduce its image and appearance. It is not good for Besa's image, " he said.

He has a call for all the countries of the Western Balkans, which he asks to do more for the rapprochement of the peoples. Ahmeti says that we should not remain hostage to the past, but should cooperate to find common initiatives and the way to become part of the EU.

“S’mund të përparojmë, afrohemi nëse nuk investojmë në pajtimin dhe afrimin e popujve dhe që të gjithë bashkë të jemi të integruar në BE. Takimet janë bërë sesi të vihet tek pajtimi i vendeve që kanë bërë luftëra të përgjakshme, Suedia me Gjermaninë dhe pikërisht ku shembull fisnikërie duhet të na shërbeje dhe ne popujve të Ballkanit që të afrohemi, të gjejmë rrugët e afrimit dhe pajtimit dhe sesi të anëtarësohemi në BE. Dhe këto kufinj të larë me gjak, le të mbeten si momente pikëllimi e dhimbje, jo të na përsëriten por të ndjekim shembullin e BE.
