During today's meeting, the CEC announced that after in-depth verifications, it turns out that the candidate for deputy in the elections of April 25 for the Democratic Party, Agron Kapllanaj, has no obstacle to exercise the public function of the deputy.
Also, this decision was made for Hekuran Murataj, who in the last elections ran for deputy in the district of Tirana under the logo of the Social Democratic Party of Albania, but failed to win.
This decision taken by the CEC also rejects the accusations made by the Democratic Party of Sali Berisha against Kapllanaj, who earlier stated that he cannot run for the head of the Municipality of Mallakastra due to problems with the law in the neighboring country, Italy .
Kapllanaj is the official candidate of the Democratic Party led by Enkelejd Alibeaj for the Municipality of Mallakastra.
We recall that in 2004 he was sentenced to 2 years in prison and a 300 euro fine by a court in Florence after being accused of theft.
The General Prosecutor's Office brought you back to this story by sending the Central Election Commission a scanner of the former mayor's criminal activity.
The Decriminalization Sector did an in-depth verification and communication with the Italian state on this issue, where it turned out that Agron Kapllanaj's sentence has been suspended.
