The American representatives who were helping SPAK have left. This is what the American embassy in Tirana has implied.
The decision came after Secretary of State Marco Rubio suspended all international assistance funded by or through the State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) while it is reviewed.
"Have the American representatives that the US brought to support SPAK left?"
This was the question that the show "Opinion" sent via e-mail to the public relations office of the American embassy, the answer to which journalist Blendi Fevziu read in the studio.
Blendi Fevziu: Elida Marvataj sent an e-mail to the public relations office of the US embassy, in which she asks that after the Prime Minister's statements that the American representatives that the US had brought to support SPAK have left, the questions were:
-Have the American experts who came to Albania to support SPAK left?
-If so, is their departure related to President Donald Trump's decision to freeze funds for Albanian institutions, or is there a third reason?
The answer is: Thank you for your question. We refer you to the press release from the State Department spokesperson. Secretary Rubio has suspended all international assistance funded by or through the Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) for review. He is initiating a review of all international assistance programs to ensure they are effective and consistent with U.S. foreign policy under the “America First” agenda. President Trump has stated that the United States will no longer blindly give away money that does nothing for the American people. Reviewing and reorganizing international assistance on behalf of hard-working taxpayers is not just the right thing to do, it is a moral obligation. The mandate of the American people was clear, we must align ourselves with the American national interest, and the Department and USAID take their role as stewards of taxpayer dollars very seriously. Every dollar we spend, every policy we pursue, and every program we fund must be justified by three simple questions: Does it make America safer? Does it make America stronger? Does it make America more prosperous?
