The Prime Minister, also the leader of the Socialist Party, Edi Rama, held a meeting today with the women and girls of the Berat district.
At the meeting, the leader of the Socialists, Rama, was accompanied by the candidates for deputies of the Berat district, as well as by the political leader of the Socialist Party in this district, Ervin Demo.
The former mayor of Berat, in his speech, emphasized the changes that have transformed this city. Demo emphasized that Berat today counts a full 1 million tourists in 2024, something unimaginable, according to him, a few years ago.
Listing the construction of roads, Demo said that Berat is also returning from a geographical point of view to the navel of southern Albania.
The former mayor of Berat, who now intends to be part of the new legislature of the assembly, Ervin Demo, appeared optimistic about the diaspora vote, while expressing his conviction that the Socialist Party will receive a minimum of 5 mandates in this district.
"In fact, Mangalem is very beautiful, Berat is very beautiful, but you have made it many times more beautiful today, all these extraordinary ladies whom I want to thank with all my heart for being here today."
I will give a very short speech, but I will not give it as a candidate or as a district leader, I will give it as your former chairman.
We have had an extraordinary journey in Berat in the last 5 years and in fact we talk about what May 11 will bring and it is very important for our journey to the European Union, but what we must actually guarantee day by day and what we have done in Berat day by day is to make Berat even more of a European city.
And today Berat is a city that meets many of the standards that a city in the EU must meet, and therefore Albania today is many times more ready than ever to be a member of the European Union. I have had the fortune to serve this city, I have done it with more love, and in the last 5 years Berat has undergone an extraordinary transformation.
Wherever we look, Berat is different, Berat today has the opportunity to make an even higher leap and May 11 is a station that we should all use so that in fact on May 11 we continue this journey and move even faster.
Berat today counts a full 1 million tourists in 2024, it was unimaginable a few years ago, that's why there are so many of us here today because we love Berat and we know that Berat has changed.
Berat today has the opportunity to look at itself and project itself in the next 5 years to a height that we could not imagine before.
Berat is also returning from a geographical point of view to the navel of southern Albania, and this is thanks to roads such as the Ballabani road, which now guarantees access to the south directly from the city, but also the Berat-Skrapar road, which creates another connection opportunity with southern Albania, whether with Përmet or Korça, or the revival of the caravan route from Korça to Berat.
This has been the reason for the extraordinary development because Berat was at the center of the trade routes of the time and what we need to do today is only what our ancestors left with great love, the potential of this extraordinary city and the geographical position that Berat has.
And I am convinced that the May 11 team will guarantee that not only will it lift Berat higher, but the entire Berat region will reach heights that we will be very proud of,
Only the Socialist Party can enable Albania's journey to the EU, the growth of cities, the creation of opportunities for everyone in our cities, all those who want to work and raise families in their city.
We will make our cities attractive even for those who have left and who are lovingly following the development in Berat.
We have been fortunate to meet hundreds of Beratans who have left, but their heads are still high.
Berat is a real alternative for them to come and find themselves in the city where they were born.
This will be added value for the years ahead and therefore the number of those who have registered from this extraordinary region to express their desire is a record in all of Albania and I am convinced that the diaspora will also vote.
And we can only do this by having Prime Minister Edi Rama.
"Here, the number 5 is not discussed as a result. We will definitely get a minimum of 5 mandates," Demo said during his speech.
