ADMINISTRATION / Irresistible invitation for talented young people: Come, we

TIRANA - News agencies and the main Albanian media have echoed these days the news that the Albanian government has many vacancies in the public administration, which it seeks to fill with talented and educated young people who have an internal vocation to served the country.

"We are in a delicate phase, where we are required to advance the reforms that will finally lead us right into the European Union," declared an important government minister from the job fair that opened in Tirana, "unlike the perception popular, not only private companies but also the public administration has hundreds of empty seats. We have made several invitations to the super-educated young Albanians inside and outside the country, but I don't know why they hesitate".

The important minister paused, then issued the powerful statement that marks a key turning point in the behavior of the prime minister and cabinet towards administration employees:

"More precisely, I believe I know why they hesitate. They are afraid that the bosses make them sign illegal documents, which then make them guilty in the eyes of the law and end up in prison."

The minister took a deep breath:

"Here I am telling you: By special order of the prime minister, no one will go to prison from now on, I swear to you. Therefore, apply, apply!”

The good news made a complete media round not only in Albania, but also abroad. Prestigious media in English, Italian, German, French, etc., along with the usual news about the Maldives of the Balkans, the Caribbean of Europe, the last Secret of the Mediterranean and the Miracle of the Western Hemisphere, also echoed this shocking news, with headlines like "Albania one step closer to the EU: No more prison for administration employees who sign the bosses' tenders!"

Pronunciations for the Western press started pouring in from Italy, France, England, Germany, etc., from excellent students in the last year of the university, or even from former ministerial staff who left their jobs and left the country.

One of them is the former specialist of the Ministry of Energy, Ermal Kukamçefti, today one of the best pizzerias in Ghent, Belgium.

"This is the news I was waiting for," said the young Kukamcefti, "to be honest, I came to Belgium as a family because I was afraid that one of my colleagues went to prison because they ordered him to sign something. I couldn't remember what I had signed, so I kept it in advance. But now that there is no more prison, I am ready to come back and contribute to the reforms. I want to take the country to the EU. I am now personally in the EU, but I feel guilty that I left my homeland outside and entered myself".

The 24-year-old Elaga Selaga, a recent graduate of the Sorbonne University in Paris, expressed her enthusiasm for the generous invitation.

"For many years, a negative impression of Albanians prevailed here in France. But the reforms of Mr. Rama, and especially the recent news that the government is ready to keep the new employees of the administration out of prison, enough for them to return and work in Albania, have completely changed the image of the country," said Elaga.

Like her, many young men and women with degrees ranging from Cambridge and Oxford, to Harvard, Stanford, Bocconi, etc., are getting ready to leave their jobs of several thousand euros (or dollars) a month, to return to Tirana.

This is what electronic engineer Sotir Lumëmadhi told the Reuters agency from Madrid.

"Albania is changing day by day. To think that I lived there for many years, and I didn't know that those four islands the size of a jar lid in Ksamil, where the Kuksian owners fought with that dibra for a meter of beach, were the Maldives of the Balkans. How shallow I was!".

Lumëmadhi stated that he had long wanted to start working in the Albanian public administration.

"But I don't know, maybe because I've been spoiled here in the West, that idea of prison seemed to hold me back. But now, nothing prevents me from going and giving my help".

Meanwhile, the Patronageist has learned that young Albanians around the world, who will decide to return to their homeland to work in the administration, will make another contribution, even if unintentionally. As soon as they enter the Albanian border, due to their passports they will be marked as foreign tourists.
