WhatsApp, Meta's instant messaging app, is set to introduce a feature on connected devices that will enable users to protect their chats from other people.
According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out its Chat Lock feature to connected devices.
This feature, which allows users to lock and hide their chats behind a passcode or biometric authentication, was initially limited to flagship devices. However, the Chat Lock feature appears to be available to users using WhatsApp for Android (version 2.24.11.9), rather than just a select few users.
Mark Zuckerberg's meta introduced the Chat Lock feature on WhatsApp in May 2023, and last month it was reported that the company had started testing the feature on connected devices by rolling it out to a number of users.
Although the company has not revealed when this feature will be available in the stable version of WhatsApp, it is expected to be rolled out to the public after thorough testing in the Beta version of the app.
This can take at least a few weeks.
