The deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, are being reported as "suspicious" just hours after police said otherwise.

In a search warrant obtained by TMZ, it states:

“The deaths of the two deceased persons are sufficiently suspicious to warrant a thorough investigation because the person who reported it found the main door of the residence unattended and open. Officers found a dog running on the property, another near the deceased woman, a dead dog about 3-4 meters away from her, inside a closet in the bathroom, the heater displaced, the open medicine bottle and pills scattered near it, the deceased man in another room of the residence, with no visible signs of a gas leak.”

The deaths of actor Gene Hackman and his wife are reported as

Hackman, Arakawa and one of their dogs were found dead Wednesday in their New Mexico home.

He was 95 years old and she was 64.

The bodies were found by two maintenance workers who had not seen the couple for two weeks. They told police that the door was open.

Authorities found no signs of forced entry.

Arakawa was found lying on her right side on the bathroom floor, next to a shelf.

It is thought that she may have fallen. Her body was decomposed and showed signs of mummification.

According to the detective who inspected the scene, she had "swelling on her face and mummification of her feet and hands."

Hackman was found in a room near the kitchen. He was dressed and it is suspected that he also fell because his glasses were next to his body.

The sheriff's office told Page Six that "violence is not suspected as a factor in these deaths. The cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office."
