The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics ended with a touching moment as Celine Dion, who suffers from a rare neurological disorder, made a musical comeback after four years.

The 56-year-old star performed the legendary Edith Piaf's "Hymne à L'Amour" at the Eiffel Tower, with fans from around the world adoring her performance on social media. In December 2020, Celine Dion was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare and chronic neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and sometimes severe seizures, and was forced to stop her live shows, the last of which was in the spring of 2020 in New York.

Dion had performed "The Power of the Dream" at the Opening Ceremony in Atlanta in 1996, and rumors of a return to the Olympics have been rife since she appeared on the cover of French Vogue in April.

"I want to be my best self. I want to see the Eiffel Tower again," she said at the time. In her documentary entitled "I am Celine Dion", she said with tears in her eyes: When I try to sing, my lungs are fine. However, what they have in front of them is so stiff because of my syndrome that I can't.

As she posted in March: “Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the most difficult experiences of my life, but I remain determined to one day return to the stage and live as normal a life as possible. I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my children, my family, my team and all of you!”
