Many men never learned from their father how important hugs, words of love, positive feelings are.
Many of them when they became fathers learned to mask or hide their feelings by repeating the behavior of their fathers.
But there is another category of fathers who have not allowed themselves to experience some positive emotions or have experienced them on a superficial level. Usually these men find it difficult to receive and show positive emotions even towards their children.
Emotions and children
We know that fathers are very important role models for their children. So very often they learn how to hide or suppress their feelings and the cycle just repeats itself.
But father figures should model healthy emotions and help children understand, share, recognize and express all kinds of emotions in a healthy way.
Children want to know they are loved
Children need to feel loved by their fathers. This is why it is important to remember that:
Love encourages children.
Love comforts children.
Love gives children confidence.
Love makes children feel safe.
Love is the greatest gift parents give to children.
When fathers learn how to manage and express their emotions, they will also begin to enjoy the benefits: love instead of hate, calmness instead of anger, hugs instead of indifference.
