For many vacationers who choose Vlora as a summer destination, the most common dilemma after a few days at the beach is: what more can we do? I found the answer last Saturday, on a speedboat trip organized by TripMeToday, an experience that lasted from 10:30 in the morning to 19:00 in the evening and that allowed me to discover up close some of the most hidden pearls of the Albanian coast.
With several short stops in small, virgin bays and a stay of more than two hours in Grama Bay, one of the most beautiful places on the Karaburun Peninsula, this was much more than a tourist tour. It was a journey through history, nature, and adventure.
The first stop was at the Haxhi Aliu Cave, one of the most popular attractions in the area. The boat then continued along the rocky shores of Karaburun, revealing views that are almost inaccessible from land.
At the helm was Edison Karafilaj, the founder and captain of TripMeToday. With more than 20 years of knowledge of the sea and 10 years of experience in accompanying tourists, he seems to have found the right formula to successfully manage the various groups that board his boat every day.
Throughout the trip, Karafilaj answered the questions of French, Romanian, and Spanish tourists with the same kindness. There was no shortage of jokes and entertaining moments, which made the passengers laugh and created a friendly atmosphere among people who had not known each other until a few hours earlier.
According to him, in recent years the number of foreign tourists visiting this area has increased significantly. French, Spanish, Polish, German and Romanian are just some of the nationalities who choose to discover the Albanian coast from the sea. This was also proven by the trip I took part in: out of 31 people on board, 29 were foreign tourists.
This fact speaks not only about the natural beauties of Karaburun and Sazan, but also about the ever-growing interest that Albania is arousing among foreigners.
At the end of the day, as the boat returned to Vlora, we were left with the feeling that we had seen a different Albania, one of hidden bays, crystal waters, and landscapes that leave you speechless.
For anyone who spends their vacation in Vlora and thinks that the city only offers the beach, a day with TripMeToday is an opportunity to experience something completely different. Not only to have fun, but also to get to know the most beautiful corners of the most amazing peninsula of our country.
