Awkward moment! Camila Cabello confuses "The Voice" contestant with
Camila Cabello

Camila Cabello has a particular weakness for a contestant on "The Voice."

On the latest episode of the hit NBC talent competition show, the former Fifth Harmony star was shocked after hearing contestant Tanner Howe's vocal skills during auditions. Why? Because he sounded just like her ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes while singing his hit "Mercy."

"Is that my ex – is that Shawn?" Cabello asked Blake Shelton. "I thought it was Shawn."

After Howe's performance, Cabello congratulated him and admitted, "I was like, 'Is Shawn on stage right now?'
John Legend agreed, "You look like him."

Howe replied to Cabello, "Well, you know her best, so that's awesome," to which she humorously replied, "I know her better than anyone in this room."
The singer of "Havana" then explained why she was the only one of the four coaches who did not return her chair for the contestant.

"But the reason I didn't go back was because I felt you looked too much like him," Cabello said. "Obviously, he has a great voice. I like this song. But I'd be curious when you pick your coach to just stand out."

Considering her comments, Howe noted, "I really respect Shawn as an artist and I see myself in that lane, but I totally love what you're saying."

Cabello said: "I was in his deep lane."
