A couple from England have abandoned their holiday on the island of Kavos in Greece, because of the loud music.

The Cheshire couple who shared the "devastating" experience with British media say they paid £2,700 for a week at a five-star seaside resort in Kavos, on the island of Corfu, but their holiday soon turned into a nightmare. .

Clive Murray, 65, and his wife Rosie, 52, say that almost every hour of the day, techno music blared from the pool bar at an incessant volume.

They also complained about the bad smell of "sewage" that they say was constantly felt in their room.

In these conditions they say they were forced to leave the country, even though they had booked another 5 days at the resort, costing them over £3,000.

"We wanted a three-week break because, with moving house and everything, the whole year has been really stressful for us," Clive told PA.

"We just wanted to relax," reports the Manchester Evening News. "Almost every day, we walked 50 minutes to the beach so we could get away from the noise."

"So we'd make our sandwiches in the morning and sit on the beach as far away from the hotel as possible to avoid the loud music, and we'd listen to it again. I know. some people will call me an old curmudgeon, but there were a lot of old people there and yet the hotel had adopted a Benidorm or Kavos model with very loud techno music,” he said.
