The three-year cruise, which was scheduled to take place aboard Life at Sea Cruises, was canceled due to safety concerns. However, such an idea was not abandoned, so its successor manages to take travelers on an even longer journey.
'Villa Vie Residences', a long-term cruise startup, has confirmed the purchase of a ship for its three-and-a-half-year round-the-world cruise. The launch is scheduled for May 2024 and the journey will last up to 1300 days.
The ship was built in 1993, but has been renovated and modernized over the years. It has a capacity of 924 people in 485 cabins, and its relatively small size means it can fit almost anywhere.
The ship will have eight decks, a promenade and a large swimming pool. There will also be three restaurants, eight bars and four lounges, as well as a spa, gym, library and medical centre. It will have everything that a large cruise ship has, only it will offer a slightly more intimate travel experience.
Passengers embarking on a 1,301-day cruise will visit 147 countries and 425 ports. They will have high speed internet and other amenities to make them feel at home. There are also on-board golf programs and excursions that promise adventure.
The stay at the ports will vary from two to seven days. Passengers will have the opportunity to get to know the city better, instead of the current practice where passengers are only for a few hours in port cities. Inside and outside cabins are available to passengers: $89 per day, or $97,455 for a three-year stay. Outsiders are $119 per person per day.
There is also the possibility of buying cabins. The purchase includes paying $99,000 for the interior, $149,000 for the exterior and $249,000 for the balcony cabin. Then, owners must pay monthly fees of $1,750, $2,500 or $4,000.
