The fame of great musicians who have left a strong mark on art made everything they wore or used valued at staggering prices.

One of Prince's guitars is coming up for auction soon, and according to forecasters, it is expected to fetch more than $600,000, possibly making it Prince's most expensive guitar ever.

One of Prince's guitars, used by the musician at the height of his art in the 80s and 90s, will go up for auction and could fetch between $400,000 and $600,000.

But the Cloud 3 guitar may be worth more, and may be the most expensive Prince guitar ever sold at auction.

The current best-selling $700,000 guitar of 2017 belonging to the seven-time Grammy-winning artist is a blue Cloud, others before it have sold at different times.

Now California-based auction house Julien's has verified the guitar's provenance by performing a CT scan and interviewing Dave Rusan, the luthier behind its creation. It remains fully playable and carries a certificate of authenticity.

 "Julien's Auctions has laid the groundwork for the return of the Cloud 3 guitar, exemplified by our long-standing commitment to honoring its legacy," said David Goodman, the auction house's chief executive.

"Our company proudly stands by our proven track record of finding and presenting instruments of unparalleled historical significance, and Prince's Cloud 3 now joins this esteemed category," adds Goodman.

Also on the podium will be musical instruments of other great artists; Bod Dylan, Robbie Robertson, Steve Jones etc. Prince's Cloud 3 will join the previously announced Nashville Museum of Fame and Musicians auction exhibition tour from May 15-18.

The exhibition will then travel to New York before the auction on May 29-30 at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square.
