Albanians wear fake brands. How much did customs confiscate last year?

In the Albanian clothing market, among other things, well-known world brands are traded, but in most cases, their prices are lower than in the West and the quality leaves much to be desired.

This, after being produced in countries that are already known for counterfeiting the brand, comes to Albania at a minimal cost.

This is confirmed by the figures recently published by the General Directorate of Customs, where only during the last year almost 5 times the amount of 2022 was blocked at the border.

It is mainly about clothing and sneakers, in a total figure of 33,102 pairs.

In the clothing group, the most that fell into the customs "net" were t-shirts (10,574 pieces), pants (3,848 pieces), and even bathrobes, towels, gym sets or underwear (intimate). As for sneakers, or as they are known by the term "sports shoes", 8,912 pairs were blocked last year.

But which of the famous world brands is preferred by Albanians? Among clothing and sports shoes, the brand that was blocked in the largest quantities by customs was "Tommy Hilfiger", which leaves behind "Hugo Boss", "Nike", or "Adidas". On the other hand, the "least favorite" were luxury brands such as "Dolce&Gabbana", "Botega Verde" and "Prada".
