Next year, the use of drones in Albania will not be an uncontrolled activity. In order to fly a drone, it will not be enough to have the technological equipment, but also a certificate of skill, an identification number and even a reserved flight schedule.

This was announced by the head of the Civil Aviation Authority Maksim Ethemaj in 'Insider' at SCAN. This initiative to register and control the use of drones is taken to avoid the damage that their uncontrolled use can cause to the population.

"Next year, the registration of drones, the setting of the unique code of the drone, the setting of the 'flyer id' of the drone will begin. In order to fly a drone, certain conditions must be met where the drone operator must have some kind of skill. To get a license to operate a drone you have to pass a short course and test. We will make a visual platform where every drone operator has to book the flight" declared Ethemaj.

Furthermore, he informed that the permits for flying drones will be limited and depending on the country, the filters that the person must pass will also be determined. In order to film in a populated area, such as Skënderbej square, the criteria will be even more numerous than in a non-populated area.
