Google is testing an artificial intelligence software called Med-PaLM 2 in hospitals.

It is designed to answer medical questions and has been in testing since April at the Mayo Clinic research hospital, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Google believes its updated AI model could be particularly useful in countries with "more limited access to doctors".

Med-PaLM 2 was trained on a series of expert demos, which Google says will make healthcare conversations better than generalized chatbots like Bard, Bing and ChatGpt.

The document cited by the WSJ also mentions research that Google made public in May.

It shows that Med-PaLM 2 still has some accuracy problems, already evident in large language models.

But, in the reasoning tests, he performed actions more or less like the doctors.

According to Google's senior director of research, Greg Corrado, the AI model is still in its infancy.

Customers testing Med-PaLM 2 can check their data, which will be encrypted and Google will not have access to it.
