"Eyes are the mirror of the soul" says a popular saying. Although it cannot be scientifically proven, there is no doubt that sight conveys a lot of information about our personality and emotions. Gaze is part of non-verbal language. Through the eyes we can understand if the person in front of us is sick and even understand his personality or if he is trustworthy. It is impressive how much information the eyes hide and also their color.
The first element we talk about is trust and its relationship with the eyes. According to a study conducted at Charles University in Prague, the color of the eyes causes certain sensations. According to Dr. Antony Fallone, black eyes evoke mystery while brown eyes generally evoke a sense of loyalty. The color blue, on the other hand, means mistrust. However, what was said depends not only on the color of the eyes but also on the physiognomy of the face.
People with blue eyes
Blue-eyed people share a common ancestor with an individual with a rare genetic mutation who lived more than 6,000 years ago. Before its existence, people only had brown eyes. According to this theory today it is thought that a person with blue eyes is not as trustworthy as someone with brown eyes. Other research conducted in Australia has shown that people with light eyes are considered "less attractive" and tend to be more competitive than those with dark eyes. In other words, people with brown eyes are associated with generosity, sensitivity, compassion or kindness. This may be due to the gene that made it possible to create a new eye color long ago.
Eye color and disease
What is the connection between health and eye color? The color of a person's eyes can indicate whether they are at high risk for certain serious diseases. The University of Colorado, USA, has conducted research showing that individuals with light eyes are more likely to suffer from vitiligo. This disease causes a progressive loss of skin pigmentation, i.e. white or pink spots in different areas of the body.
Even the color blue would be closely related to a higher chance of skin cancer (melanoma). This is because in the vast majority of cases people with light eyes also have fair skin and are more vulnerable to UV exposure. Of course, there is a scientific explanation behind this, as fair-skinned people enjoy fewer pigments to protect them from the sun.
Alcohol and sunlight
Although more and more people wear glasses today, people with light eyes are more likely to suffer from myopia or astigmatism. It is enough to think that the majority of the population with blue eyes is present in the countries of Northern Europe. Here for several months the sun is almost absent and the days are very short. Therefore, clear eyes help you see better in the dark. The same applies to brown eyes, typical of the peoples closest to Ecuador and therefore more resistant to heat and sunlight.
On the other hand, as revealed in a study conducted by Dr. Jonathan F Bassett, in some cases eye color predicts the tendency to consume alcohol. Also in this case the blue tone shows a greater tendency towards this habit. Science has proven that eye color sometimes reveals different information. It seems that part of our behavior is reflected by our sight.
