Emilia Clarke reveals that when she was admitted to the hospital during 'Game of Thrones' she was "more afraid of being laid off than of dying"

Actress Emilia Clarke has admitted she was "more afraid of being fired than dying" when she was hospitalized with a brain haemorrhage while filming Game of Thrones.

The Game of Thrones star, 37, will receive Harper's BAZAAR Woman of the Year on November 7, following in Anya Taylor-Joy's footsteps.

In an interview with BAZAAR, Emilia shared how she felt when she was diagnosed with a subarachnoid aneurysm, writes the Daily Mail.

"I was not afraid to die. I was afraid that I would be fired," she said.

"If I'm brutally honest, the whole thing made me feel very embarrassed. As if I was broken. As if the producers must think I'm an unreliable person they hired," Clarke pointed out.

“I don't worry about failure – I thrive on failure. If something goes wrong, I always think you can fix it. It hurts, it's scary, but then you can do anything," added the British actress.

Emilia returned to acting this year after taking a years-long hiatus from physical roles, opting instead for sporadic voice work.

In an essay she wrote for The New Yorker in 2019, Emilia hinted at the possible reason for her long break.

The actress revealed that she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage caused by a ruptured aneurysm and then aphasia.

She also revealed that at one point her multiple brain ailments left her unable to even remember her own name.

Clarke starred in a film this year, The Pod Generation, a sci-fi film that she also produced, starring alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor.

She also starred as G'iah in the Marvel miniseries Secret Invasion, which follows Nick Fury as he uncovers a plot to invade Earth.
