Actor Can Yaman arrested, accused of drug trafficking and use

Can Yaman has been arrested in Turkey following an operation for the trafficking and consumption of narcotics among celebrities and journalists in Istanbul.

The Turkish star of Albanian origin is well known in Italy for his leading roles in famous series and has been arrested along with six other people, including actress Selen Görgüzel.

The seven arrested have undergone tests at the Institute of Forensic Medicine to determine if, when and which substances they used. Police carried out arrests last night in nine nightclubs in the Bosphorus metropolis, arresting several drug dealers and the managers of these outlets where narcotics were sold.

In recent weeks, over 20 celebrities from the entertainment industry have been arrested during this operation. The operations were carried out by the Office of Investigation against Smuggling, Narcotics Trafficking and Economic Crimes.

The investigation, which had been ongoing for weeks, had identified over 20 celebrities who were being monitored.

According to Turkish media, the prosecutor's office had not issued an arrest warrant for Can Yaman for this investigation.

The actor was found to be in possession of narcotics during a search of one of the clubs and was immediately arrested.
