Sarah Barnett , a former prison officer in Derbyshire, England, was found guilty of misconduct after she began an illicit relationship with a prisoner, Scott Taylor, by whom she became pregnant.
The incident occurred in August 2023, when Taylor, temporarily released overnight, stayed at Barnett's house despite having to return to prison.
Barnett admitted he was aware of Taylor's return and encouraged her to stay with him, violating prison rules.
After Taylor's arrest, Barnett discovered she was six weeks pregnant with his child.
Judge Shaun Smith ruled that Barnett should avoid jail, giving him a two-year community service order, including 25 days of rehabilitation activity.
He stressed that Barnett had mental health problems and a lack of support, considering a community order more appropriate than a prison sentence.
