US intelligence reveals Iran's nuclear program remains largely intact

The latest US intelligence assessments show that Iran's nuclear program has not suffered major damage, despite months of war and continuous attacks by the US and Israel.

According to sources cited by Reuters, the time it would take Tehran to build a nuclear weapon remains almost unchanged compared to last summer, around nine months to a year, if a political decision were made to follow this path.

Although the attacks have hit several important facilities, including complexes in Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan, they have failed to eliminate the nuclear material that Iran already possesses.

The International Atomic Energy Agency estimates that current reserves of enriched uranium could be sufficient to produce up to 10 nuclear bombs, if further enriched.

Sources point out that one of the main reasons for the limited impact of the war is the fact that American attacks have focused mainly on conventional military targets and not directly on nuclear infrastructure.

Meanwhile, a significant portion of the enriched uranium is believed to be hidden in hard-to-hit underground facilities, making stopping the Iranian nuclear program even more complicated.

Despite this, US officials continue to emphasize that the primary objective remains preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, while options also include more risky operations, such as ground interventions to seize nuclear materials.

The situation remains tense, as peace negotiations are underway and the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz continues to affect global energy markets.
