Discussions between Kurti and the German Chancellor are clarified: Visas should

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held a meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti at his headquarters in Berlin, where he is also expected to meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. At the joint press conference, Scholz and Kurti shared details from their meeting.

In addition to the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue, the main topic of discussion seems to have been visa liberalization for Kosovo. Kurti stated that Kosovo has met the criteria, which was agreed by the German Chancellor, saying that progress should be made.

"Even two months marks four years since the European Commission recommended visa liberalization for Kosovo for the second time. It's time to say enough is enough. This issue should be decided in the EU Council after Kosovo has done its homework, and it is time for the EU to perform its duties as well " , said Kurti.

Regarding the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Kurti said that the focus should be on mutual recognition.

"We talked about the dialogue with Serbia, the dialogue should be focused on mutual recognition. Our view and conviction is that mutual recognition should be at the center, not at the end. We are focused to have concrete results ," said Albin Kurti.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced a visit to Pristina. He said he was happy for the co-operation of the two countries' governments that would strengthen energy independence and improve air quality. Regarding visa liberalization, he said that further progress should be made and he will be committed to this.

"Further progress must be made now in visa liberalization for Kosovo. The federal government has fixed this as an objective in the coalition agreement. For this I persistently engage in the European Union, in talks with partners; I engage with persistence " , said Scholz.

Scholz also mentioned regional cooperation, saying that Germany has been engaging in this region with the Berlin process for years. He mentioned four important agreements that he said will be signed in the second half of this year as part of the Berlin Process.

"The most important project is the creation of a common regional market,"  said Scholz, announcing an agreement on the free movement of persons and the recognition of professional diplomas.
