The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, delivered her speech in the Assembly of North Macedonia, before the voting of the French proposal by the Macedonian deputies.

Von der Leyen said that with the voting of this proposal, the European Union will open negotiations with North Macedonia next week.

"Now we all have to look ahead, we have to seize the opportunity in front of us. Let's start the accession negotiations and work together on the road that leads you to the European Union. We can do this next week, taking the first step with the French proposal.

You are all aware of this proposal. It protects your interests and addresses the concerns of all parties. We are convinced that this is of historical importance. The decision is yours, it has to do with your European path", said Von der Leyen.
