Trump seeks Turkey's inclusion in multinational force in Gaza, despite
Erdogan and Trump

A US official told Axios that the United States wants Turkey to play a role in the international force being planned for Gaza - even though Israel is opposed to such a commitment.

"In our view, the Turks were very helpful in reaching the Gaza deal, and Netanyahu's verbal attacks on Ankara have been very counterproductive," said the US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

This statement comes at a time of high tensions between Ankara and Tel Aviv, after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel of "genocide" in Gaza and froze all diplomatic relations.

However, Washington sees Turkey as an indispensable actor in any post-war mechanism for stabilizing the Gaza Strip – including a multinational force that would help maintain order and deliver humanitarian aid.

Israel, on the other hand, has strongly opposed the idea of Turkish involvement, accusing Erdogan of "anti-Israeli" stances and support for Hamas.
