The new deal for Ukraine's equipment is expected to exceed $10 billion. US President Donald Trump, who clearly feels betrayed by his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, in addition to the 50-day deadline for ending the war, in a stunning 180-degree turn announced that he would provide the weapons requested by Kiev. In an unprecedented transaction, European NATO countries will buy modern American systems and provide them to Ukraine for its defense and beyond.
According to sources close to the White House, the package includes advanced air defense systems and long-range missiles, marking a drastic turn in Trump's stance on the war in Ukraine.
Weapons with great striking power: From Patriot to Tomahawk and ATACMS
According to sources from Washington for foreign media, the package includes:
Patriot missiles – One of Ukraine’s most urgent requests. Up to 17 Patriot systems will be delivered from a Western country (suspectedly Switzerland), which could significantly improve the air defense of Kiev and other strategic cities.
Tomahawk – Long-range missiles (up to 2,500 km) traditionally used by the US Navy and Air Force. According to diplomatic sources, Ukraine will receive a limited number of Tomahawks, which will be used to strike critical Russian targets – a strategic lever that could change the course of the war.
ATACMS (Atacams) – Surface-to-surface missiles with a range of over 300 km and a 500 kg warhead. Ukraine has used them before, but without permission to strike inside Russian territory. Trump is now considering not only increasing supplies, but also authorizing their full range use.
JASSM – Long-range air-to-surface missiles, which can be launched from F-16 aircraft provided by European partners. These missiles give Ukraine the ability to carry out precision air strikes deep into enemy territory, including strategic air bases.
