Valencia have paid tribute to their former player Jose Castillejo, 28, who lost his life after the city was hit by devastating floods that claimed 158 lives.

" Valencia CF mourns the death of José Castillejo, victim of flash floods. Castillejo came through the club's youth system up to the U18 level and played for other teams in the region ," the statement read.

The floods have been called Spain's worst natural disaster in a century. The death toll has risen to at least 158 ​​and fears for more bodies are mounting as more people remain missing.

In Spain, three days of mourning have been declared and many matches in the Valencia region have been postponed, including two from La Liga, Valencia - Real Madrid and Villarreal - Rayo Vallecano.
