VENEZUELA

Images of massive destruction continue to emerge from Venezuela , hit by two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, considered the strongest to hit the country in more than a century.

According to Venezuelan authorities, the death toll has risen to 920 people, while over 3,360 others have been injured.

The news was confirmed by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez, who warned that the number of victims is expected to rise, as hundreds of people are still trapped under the rubble.

Meanwhile, anxiety about the fate of the missing remains high. According to reports on citizen platforms and unofficial networks, over 51,000 people have been reported missing.

One of the hardest-hit areas is the coastal town of La Guaira, where satellite images show widespread destruction.

The " Chavez " residential complex , known as " Suma ", has almost completely collapsed, while several multi-story buildings have collapsed within seconds.

Major damage has also been reported in industrial areas, where numerous warehouses and buildings have been completely destroyed.

The country's international airport has suffered serious damage and has been closed, while the tremors were also felt in Brazil, where authorities ordered the evacuation of several buildings.

In the affected areas, survivors are trying to rescue family members and neighbors by digging with makeshift tools, even by hand, due to a lack of sufficient equipment and rescue teams.

Reports speak of growing anger at the response of the authorities, who are struggling to manage the scale of the disaster. In some areas, cases of looting have also been recorded. The international community has begun mobilizing to come to Venezuela's aid.

The United Kingdom has sent a military plane with 68 search and rescue specialists and trained dogs, and has pledged a £2 million emergency fund.

Meanwhile, the United States, Mexico, Spain, Germany and other countries have also begun sending specialized teams, medical aid and humanitarian supplies to support search and rescue operations and the population affected by the disaster.
