Shooting at a festival in Ohio, USA, 12 people injured! Two perpetrators on the run

At least twelve people were injured on Saturday in the city of Toledo, in the northeastern US state of Ohio, on the sidelines of a local festival, said police, who have so far not arrested any suspects.

"Twelve people were injured in the shooting, two of whom are in critical condition," Toledo Deputy Police Chief Joseph Heffernan told reporters, adding that no suspects have been arrested so far.

According to initial reports, at least two people opened fire, he said.

"Maybe they shot at each other," he estimated.

The incident was recorded near the old town, where the two-day Old West End Festival is taking place, which offers visitors concerts, markets, exhibitions and events every year, according to its website.

Authorities are taking statements from eyewitnesses and reviewing cellphone videos filmed by passersby. They appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could help them catch the suspects.

According to Dan Gerken, a police officer, most of the victims were in their 20s.

The United States has more guns than people, and access to or purchase of them is generally easy. The country counts thousands of deaths each year from gun violence, more than any other economically developed country, not counting suicides.
