
A serious incident occurred this Monday morning in the Czech Republic, where, according to local media reports, there were gunshots near the municipal offices of a city in the north of the country.
As a result of this event, two people lost their lives (including the aggressor) and at least six others were injured.
The incident took place in the municipality of Ch?ibská, 110 kilometers north of Prague. The attack was reported shortly before 10:30 a.m. after witnesses alerted authorities. Emergency services responded immediately, with one patient being transported by helicopter to hospital.
Police said the suspect was shot dead and is no longer a threat to the public. According to Euronews, the attacker is believed to have taken his own life after a gunfight with police. A police officer was reportedly among the injured.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear, however, authorities said it was not linked to extremism or terrorism and that the motive may have been personal or related to a relationship. Police said several psychologists have been sent to the city to help those affected by the incident.
Interior Minister Lubomír Metnar was at the scene, while Prime Minister Andrej Babiš expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
