As the holiday season approaches, many businesses prepare to spend millions on advertising and decorations.
However, the largest line of Iceland supermarkets in Iceland has decided not to follow the tradition this year.
The supermarkets' chief executive, Richard Walker, told the Grocery Gazette that there would be no Christmas advertising from them as they would instead focus on "keeping prices low".
"As a business we faced a decision. Do we spend millions creating and distributing a TV ad or do we invest the money to support our customers during the cost of living crisis?
This was not a good thing for us. I am grateful that as a family-run company, we can make the decisions we believe are right for our business and our customers," he stated.
Walker later took to social media to reiterate his belief that skipping the Christmas ad this year was a "no brainer", writing: "Instead of spending millions to create and share a TV ad , we chose to invest the money to support our customers during the cost of living crisis."
His post has received thousands of likes and comments from many citizens who express their support for this decision.
