Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been asked whether a deal could be reached to free the roughly 240 Israeli hostages taken during the October 7 attack. "There may be," he told NBC's Meet the Press.
"The less I say about it, the more I increase the chances of it materializing." Netanyahu gave no details but said "one thing" that could force a deal was the "military pressure" his defense force was exerting on Hamas.
But an unidentified American official has argued that a "fairly significant" pause in the conflict would be needed. Prime Minister Netanyahu has rejected growing calls for a ceasefire unless it includes the release of all hostages.
